School Uniform

School uniform plays a vital role in promoting the ethos of a school, providing a sense of belonging and identity and setting an appropriate tone for education.  By creating a common identity amongst all pupils, regardless of background, a school uniform can also act as a social leveller.

The “Education (Guidance about Costs of School Uniforms) Act 2021” states that all stipulated school uniform items must be affordable for all and any branded items, purchased through uniform suppliers, offer value for money.  This statutory guidance came into effect in September 2022.

The Aspire Uniform Policy, formed in part by parent/pupil voice, ensures each individual uniform offering across the trust is in line with this legislation and helps maintain the balance between affordability and upholding of school ethos and identity.

The school encourages the wearing of uniform and sees it as a positive statement by both parents and children towards being part of the whole school community. We like to promote a smart and tidy appearance.

The uniform requested is as follows:

  • Red sweatshirt, cardigan or fleece
  • White shirt/blouse or polo shirt
  • Grey or black tailored trousers, shorts, skirts or pinafore dress
  • Red gingham summer dresses
  • White socks, red/grey tights
  • Flat, black school shoes

Sweatshirts, fleece and polo shirts with the school badge are optional, and can be ordered online. Our school uniform suppliers are MyClothing and SchoolTrends, book bags can also be purchased from these companies.

The office holds a small stock of book bags, please see Mrs Sleeman for more information.

There is no obligation to purchase branded school uniform on any of the items, all school uniform items can also be purchased, unbranded,  in supermarkets & high street shops.

P.E. KIT

This should be in school in a labelled bag every day as we often need to be flexible with the time tabling. PE bags will be sent home at the end of each half term:

  • White t-shirt
  • Black shorts
  • Plimsolls/trainers
  • Spare pair of white socks
  • Tracksuit bottoms/jumper for the winter months

HAIR

Long hair (below the shoulder) must be tied back.

JEWELLERY

Small stud earrings can be worn by those children who have their ears pierced.

SECOND-HAND UNIFORM SHOP

We are also very lucky to have a school uniform shop which is run by the Friends of Cusgarne.

All items are second hand, in good condition, and sell between 50p-£1. If you would like more information on purchasing these items, please contact the school office.
