Remote Learning

Our remote learning offer is accessed via Tapestry for children in Reception and Google Classroom for Years 1 to 6.

Our remote learning will mirror provision for those children in school as much as is possible.

Our online learning allows school staff to interact with your child, mark their learning, as well as set appropriate next steps and address any misconceptions.

Learning is set by 6pm the night before at the latest, with a suggested timetable for when to complete activities the following day. We appreciate that some of you may need to juggle your own work commitments, as well as several children’s home learning and therefore may choose to complete it at different times. However, there is an expectation for home learning to be completed daily and uploaded by 4pm wherever possible. Friday afternoon can be spent finishing off anything needed for that week or by doing some of non-screen activities recommended by their teacher.

If any work is completed and handed in over the weekend, it may not be acknowledged for a few days. Similarly, adults within school continue to teach face to face in school through the day, which may mean that they are unable to respond to requests for support for learning straight away. As always, if you need to please make a phone call to school or an email to hello@cusgarne.org and we will do our utmost to help you as soon as we can. Please do not email any teachers directly.

  •                   Feedback will always be positive and some misconceptions may also be addressed via written feedback in Tapestry (EYFS) or Google Classroom (Yrs 1-6.)

Marking

  •                   We aim to acknowledge all work returned.  This will be a mixture of positive comments and next steps (either individually or on a whole class basis.)
  •                   Marking is completed regularly and may not be within the school working day.   If possible, please upload your work as soon as you can on the day that the work is set, so that the teachers can respond in a timely way.

In addition

  •                   We phone all families of vulnerable learners every two weeks of a closure. We are very happy to support any parents if they are having difficulties accessing and completing remote learning and will also ring these families regularly. All other communication is made with pupils via Google Classroom each day. We aim then to hold Google Meets with classes throughout bubble or national lockdowns. Dates and times will be arranged via Google Classroom. This is an online meeting where learning will be celebrated and a time to say hello and see friends from within the classroom and at home
  •                   Regular video messages will be posted in Google Classroom/Seesaw/Tapestry from your child’s class teacher.

Even though your child will be learning from home, this does not mean you are alone.  We are always available if needed.  Please phone us on 01872 863563 or email hello@cusgarne.org

As you can see from the above, our remote learning is substantial and the adults within school take a lot of time preparing appropriate resources as well as teaching face to face in school for those who need a place.
