Class 3

Welcome to class 3.

Our teachers are Mrs Murray and Mr Barnard. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Ireson. In the mornings Mr Barnard teaches English and Maths to the year 4s in the library, whilst Mrs Murray teaches the year 5 and 6s. In the afternoon. Mrs Murray teaches the foundation subjects to years 4, 5 and 6 in our class.

Our classroom is a well-organised, inviting and exciting place to learn. Children in Class 3 are expected to become more independent as their time in year 4 and 5 progresses to prepare them for year 6 and SATs. We expect all children to try their best and have a growth mindset. In year 6, each child can become an ambassador, which helps them to learn about responsibility and to gain leadership skills. Our year 6 pupils have the important responsibility of contributing towards the smooth running of our school; we really value their efforts and mature attitude towards this. We also promote the importance of teamwork, which is evident within our classroom.

During the school year we will go on trips and in the past have enjoyed visits to the beach, Falmouth Art Gallery, the Minack Theatre and The Eden Project. We take part in many activities such as assemblies, productions, and take part sporting festivals and competitions against other schools in the Aspire and Richard Lander partnerships.

In Class 3, PE is on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Please ensure full PE kits are in school every week. Homework is issued on Fridays and is due in on Tuesdays. Assistance with homework is available every Friday lunchtime should we feel your child needs extra support.

Reading should be enjoyed daily – every child is expected to read for at least 15-20 minutes, either independently or to an adult. They should then write how much they have read in their home-school-link book, which should be initialled daily by an adult at home. Pupils are also expected to learn their spellings and times tables each week.

We share up to date pictures and information on our Twitter feed so that you can share our learning journey.

As always, if you have any questions, please make an appointment to see Mrs Murray or Mr Barnard, or make contact via email or telephone to our secretary.
