Class 2

Welcome to our Class 2 page!

We are a mixed Year 2 and Year 3 class taught by Miss Palmer alongside our teaching assistants Mrs Buckley and Mrs Pascoe.  We also have some brilliant volunteers who help us throughout the year.

Our classroom is a wonderful setting in which to learn.  The children are proud of their work which we are delighted to display.  We like to engage with our local environment and explore on our ‘welly walks’ and the RSPB bird watch.

In our mixed year group class, the children motivate each other to discover new skills.  Our aim is to make every day challenging and motivating so that the children can become independent and resilient learners who are successful and show an enthusiastic attitude towards learning.

Over the school year we take part in many activities such as group music lessons.  This year we are learning the violin!  Class 2 take part in assemblies, productions and visits including sporting activities away from school.

Our regular PE sessions are on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons so please ensure full PE kits and trainers are in school every week.  We also have well attended after school clubs so the children may need their PE kit for these too!

In Class 2 our learning is based on our termly topics.  We have a Phonics lesson every day as well as reading.  The children love to read and alongside reading in school, we aim for every child to read for at least 10-15 minutes, to an adult at home. They should then write how much they have read in their reading record, which should be initialled daily by an adult.

The children are set homework tasks.  Homework is set on a Friday and is due to be handed in on the following Tuesday.  We also have weekly spellings and times tables to learn.

Throughout the year, parents and families are invited to our school events and you can keep up to date via our newsletter or our regular posts on Twitter,

As always, if you have any questions, please make an appointment to see Miss Palmer, or make contact via email or telephone to our secretary.
