Hello and welcome to our Class 1 page!
We are a mixed Reception and Year 1 class taught by Mrs Turner and Mrs Denton, our Early Years specialist. We are lucky to be supported by Mrs Lanyon, Mrs Northey and some wonderful volunteers.
Our classroom is big, bright and bursting with energy! The children quickly settle into our Class 1 family and together we explore, learn new skills and enjoy our time at school.
Each term we have a topic and base our learning around this either through teacher directed or child initiated activities. Every day, we start with a class wake and shake activity before settling into our lessons.
Year 1 children follow the National Curriculum while Reception children are working towards their Early Learning goals. More detailed information can be found on our curriculum pages of the website.
Within our classroom we have a role play area, creative areas, writing tables, a fun reading area and lots of construction toys! Outside our classroom we have our own area complete with a stage, water wall, muddy kitchen and lots of other outdoor toys. During the year we have opportunities to use bikes and scooters and make use of the lovely big field next to our classroom.
In Class 1, PE is on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. We may use the Hall for indoor PE, use the indoor PE equipment, or go outside either in the playground or the field. We ask that full PE kits and trainers are in school every week.
During the school year we will go on trips and in the past have enjoyed visits to the beach, lifeboat station, the Minack Theatre and The Eden Project. We will always let you know in advance and we always have a brilliant time!
We love to read and share stories in Class 1. The children read every day and we ask that parents support reading at home by sharing some time together.
Throughout the year, parents and families are invited to our school events and you can keep up to date via our newsletter or our regular posts on Twitter,
As always, if you have any questions, please make an appointment to see Mrs Turner, or make contact via email or telephone to our secretary.

We also enable schools to employ cookies and similar tracking technologies in connection with their use of our Services in order to allow them to track visitors to and interactions with, their school website.
Our Services allows schools to embed code which may potentially contain cookies. Please note embedded content, if displayed on one our websites, has been added by the school and not by eSchools. The embedded content added by the school may require additional cookies or tracking technologies to be enabled in order to function.
